another sunday night storm is moving on in. good evening i'm lucy noland. >> i'm iain page a winter storm advisory in effect for several local counties. let's get right over to caitlin roth. katelyn. >> good evening to both of you iain and lucy. another sunday night and yes this is the third in a row where we've been dealing with the potential for a tricky monday morning commute. here we are again. here's the storm system just towards our north bringing a lot of snow to upstate new york, parts of new england and some rain showers into northeast pennsylvania. it's just circling north of the philadelphia area right now. not seeing any showers in our area just a lost fog out there. some rain showers made it to the scranton wilkes-barre area mixing with snow showers that will first hit the poconos then the lehigh valley and make their way from north to south early 31 morning. winter weather advisory for southeast pennsylvania and parts of new jersey including camden county, burlington county, ocean and mercer counties. from 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning to 6:00 a.m. tuesday and this is for not even just snow but the potential icy conditions with some rain that will change to freezing rain and mixed with

sleet through the morning hours then through the afternoon so we're most concerned with the slippery roadways, some ice forming on any untreated surfaces. fox future cast overnight fairly quite a lot of clouds and fog by day break showers off towards our north a mix of rain and snow showers making its way into the philadelphia area through the afternoon. especially further north in the higher elevations really mixing with snow. later on monday afternoon. right now 39 in philadelphia. well above freezing. we're mostly above freezing which is good for now. we are expected to fall. visibility the lowest towards our north where that fog is very dense. 35 degrees is the temperature overnight tonight. here in philadelphia we do stay above freezing. clouds and fog with rain showers late but even here in the city that rain will change to a icy mix throughout the morning and the afternoon so do watch for slick spots on the evening commute as well. i'll have much more on this wintry start to our monday and a look at the week ahead in your seven day forecast. lucy and iain p talk to you then caitlin. join us for fox 29 morning news from four to 6:00 a.m.

"good day philadelphia" as well from six to ken for the very latest on the storm, rotor conditions school closings and delays. a police department has cleared several officers accused of racial profiling but some lower merion residents say this is -- this conversation is not over yet. there was a meeting in ardmore tonight on that very subject. fox 29's dave kinchen was there and he's live in ardmore tonight. dave? >> reporter: iain this meeting was packed and it was personal for a lot of people here. sharing their personal stories of racism in their lives. many people even saying there's an under current of racial tension that has to be addressed in this community. standing room only inside the ardmore senior center with a big crowd of mostly african-americans sounding off on alleged racial profiling in lower merion township. >> you need to understand what we as black males go through in this community and communities all over. >> i have two teenage aged boys. once they leave the house every

day i'm really concerned they'll be stopped by a police officer. >> residents place police administrator after two groups of black men were stopped by lower merion cops shoveling snow late last month. >> it doesn't seem right. >> debra shot this picture of two black men ordered to sit in the snow while being questioned by an officer. she hired them to shovel her driveway and sidewalk and felt something was off while observing the encounter. >> i asked a few of my neighbors. none of them would got on the record. >> reporter: police officials said the two stops happened on the same day with officers only questioning the men for doing door to door solicitation without a permit. >> those that were stopped were only those canvassing the neighborhood and they're adults. >> adults are required to have permit in the township and these men were between 18 and 40. kids are exempt from the restrictions. police also said one of the men had an outstanding warrant that had to be checked out. >> when it was an issue of a warrant potential arrest the

individuals were asked to be seated. they were not handcuffed. they were not even physically touched. they were not put in the back of police car which further restricts their movement. >> the officers involved with the stops were cleared. police say the men shook hands with one of the officers and went about their day. and while department officials deny racial profiling as a tactic, many here point to their own experiences of problems that knead to be addressed. >> we're from the midwest and trust me this is more segregated and i'm from alabama. >> we got to do better. i'm willing to work with whoever to do better to get better because i want moo children to have better opportunities -- i don't want these meetings to go on. >> reporter: police department officials vowed to work with a township commission designed to look at these types of issues to look attention between minority minorities and police and to keep conversations going. lucy? >> thank you very much, dave. developing right now it seems lady luck is not with

atlantic city's revel. it's $95 million sail supposed to close tomorrow but federal judge today ordered claims from business tenants at the former hotel and casino as well as the building's power plant be heard in court before the sale can go through. now that ruling puts tomorrow's style a florida developer in jeopardy. tomorrow afternoon the court will now hear emergency motions from the businesses and the power plant and of course we'll let you know what happens. false alarm in montgomery county. expected case of measles is not measles after according to the county health department. today 15 your old boy had been in isolation since friday after a doctor suspected that he might have measles. well today health officials say he does not have the virus but have not said what's making him sick. right now the health department says there are no measles cases in montgomery county. >> so many questions tonight at a central pennsylvania university after officials find a student dead in a dorm room. millersville university in lancaster county say it happened this morning and relatives have

asked the university to with hold the student's name for now. an autopsy is set for tomorrow to try to figure out what happened. in western pennsylvania police say a 17-year-old boy opened fire in a shopping mall this weekend hitting three people. fox 29's brad sattin joins us now with more on what happened. brad. we're also hearing about calls for shopping malls to put curfews in place for teens. >> reporter: lucy, that's right. because there have been pretty high profile cases of vial license in recent years. that happened outside pittsburgh pittsburgh. there was big fight around christmas. it does have an increasing number of shopping malls setting nighttime curfews for teenagers. >> shots rang out. people started running. >> reporter: chaos inside the macy' at the monroeville malt in a pittsburgh suburb saturday night. police say 17-year-old tar rod thorn hill began arguing with 20-year-old man when he pulled out gun and began firing indiscriminately. >> all of a sudden we heard people screaming and the next

thing you see is a bunch of people teenagers scared to death just exodus on mass in a way you cannot believe. i grabbed my children. moo husband we started screaming go, go, go! >> reporter: 20-year-old target was hit much he's in critical condition and a husband and wife innocent bystanders were also struck and hospitalized. police say they matched mall surveillance video to a photo on instagram to tie thorn hill to the shootings. the mall will now institute a 6:00 p.m. friday and saturday night curfew. >> what that means is, if you're under 18 years old you have to be with a parent, a guardian someone at least 21 or older or you will be asked to leave the mall. >> reporter: is similar curfew just began this weekend in a chicago area mall after a melee there broke out recently. younger looking shoppers now have their id's checked chaperones over 21 get wrist bands. >> like i understand it. i think it's kind of ridiculous but i get it. >> reporter: some malls across the country began instituting

curfews back in the mid 1990's more than 80 of them have curfews today. including mall of america in minnesota and the york gallery ya mall in central pa according to their web sites restricting teens from entering on friday and saturday nights without a parent or guardian. while some are calling it an infringement of rights police in monroeville says they fully support curfews if they deter this violence. >> it was unexpect -- i was not expecting to walk out of here tonight passing cops carrying guns. most of malts in our area do not institute curfews. every single one we looked up does have a code of conduct on their website saying the malls are private property. you break the common sense rules and you do risk arrest. iain. >> brad, thank you. north carolina basketball coach and great dean smith has passed away. the hall of fame coach died at his home last note. smith coached the tar heels from 1961 to 1997. he went to 11 final fours fours.

♪ you know you've got to be careful with what you share on social media. a local teen learned that lesson the hard way. police say he posted photos of some valuables. he doesn't only grab attention just the wrong kind. fox 29's sabina kuriakose has what happened next. >> got me worried. i left work to see if he was okay. so obviously i am little bit worried. >> reporter: anxious friends and family checking on the victims of an early morning home invasion along dana avenue at the berkshire tries apartments in northeast philadelphia. >> somebody on his knees with his hands behind his back. here they got the guy with gun. >> reporter: busted window and three tossed out cell phones marked the escape route of three armed gunmen who police say kick in the door of this home just after 2:30 sunday morning.

police say the masked men asked for role leck watches and jewelry that they saw pictured on one of the victims social media accounts of the investigators say the gunmen saw the posts on instagram. they stole a rolex and two gold chains before smashing their way through that back window. fortunately the five teenaged victims unside all between 17 and 19 years old were okay. >> i heard a bank. >> reporter: when neighbor jerry conte look out the window he couldn't believe what he witnessed. >> they got a guy with a gun and he undone the shell casing dropped the bullets on the ground. >> it's just frightening it really is. too close to home, you know. >> reporter: suspects took the victim' cell phones but not before one of them managed to call police from the bathroom. detectives found two hand guns at the scene. tonight the manhunt continues for the social media using suspects. >> just don't give information

like that on the internet. >> reporter: neighbors here are shaken up. telling us it's a terrible way for the young victims to realize you may never know who is watch watching. >> it's just ridiculous what people put on facebook and everything, you know. just looking for trouble actual actually. people must scan it to fine out you know -- >> reporter: sabina kuriakose fox 29 news. >> the later of whitney houston is clinging to life in atlanta area hospital. meanwhile investigators are looking into exactly what happened to her. bobbi kristina has been in the hospital since her boyfriend buddy found her face down in the bathtub last weekend. tmz is reporting she has injuries that need an explanation and they're looking into a possible altercation between bobbi kristina and her boyfriend nick gordon more than an hour before his friend found her face down in the tub. los angeles authorities will probably ask olympic gold med list bruce jenner to hand over his cell phone to figure out if

he was texting during a deadly car crash. jenn are in was behind the wheel of an suv that was involved in a multi car crash in malibu that killed a woman. jenner is not buying singled out out. police will ask for everyone's phones. here's something folks are having trouble wrapping their ends around. in california some parents are doing all they can to make sure their children actually catch the measles. they're having measles parties where they're unvaccinateed children hang out with kids into are infected with the potential potentially deadly virus. these parents say the goal is to help their children become immune to the virus even though these same parents have decided not to have their kids vaccinated against measles. they're worried about the vaccine's side effects but cdc says measles itself can lead to pneumonia brain damage, deafness even death and many public health officials are blaming the spread of the current outbreak on unvaccinated children. even though some parents are throwing those measles parties others are still going with the

♪ wildfire has destroyed at least 40 homes in northern california. tonight firefighters are working hard to put out the flames. the round fire which is burning

at the base of the sierra notify nevada started on troy dame the cause is under investigation but fierce winds fanned the flames. no reports of any injuries. >> attack on u.s. coast guard station in grand haven michigan has authorities calling it domestic terrorism. a man crashed his pick up through the gates of the station then assaulted members of the guard. authorities say the man claimed he had a bomb in his truck and threatened to use it. no one seriously hurt. authorities did not find a bomb and they're now looking into whether he acted alone. in texas officers say a man opened fire on a police chopper and tonight that man is dead. austin police say last night neighbors called in reporting someone was firing shots. a police chopper through to that scene and that when cops say the man started shooting at the police chopper. and one of the bullets hit the aircraft's rotor blades. a neighbor says she and her husband they were ready for anything. >> my husband had hunting rifles. he loaded it and, you know,

ready for anything to happen. someone came to our house. so yeah, we were pretty scared. you never know today. i mean people go on those these random shootings. you just never know. >> police eventually shot and killed the man and found pistols, rifles and shot guns belonged to him. they don't know yet why he started shooting in the first place. a former fashion model and actress who appeared on episode of the cosby show is now the latest in a string of women to accuse bill cosby of making unwanted sexual advances. helen, says cosby also made some lewd gestures toward her on the set of the show. meanwhile cosby canceled tonight's stand up performances in boston. the wilbur theater posted the announcement offering ticket refunds. the theater apologized for the abrupt change didn't not say why the shows are canceled. cosby told the boston globe he canceled because the treacherous weather in boston much the 77-year-old faces sexual assault accusations from at least 16 women.

you this wintry mess for monday, we're starting off with the rain to mixed showers moving in overnight. now most of what happens overnight is going to be north and west of here. we're not seeing anything in our area quite yet. then monday morning, it's a mix of some rain, some freezing rain and some sleet. further north you go the better chance of seeing the frozen stuff mix in. but any of those untreated surfaces could easily ice up it doesn't take much about a tenth of an inch into monday avenue into the we'll actually see some of that change over to snow again north and west. we'll see maybe a few inches in most furthest northwestern counties. outside right now, here's winter storm taking shape over the northeast. mainly seeing the snow up into parts of new york, new england boston as i said going to get a good dose of some snow overnight tonight. some of the rain showers making it into northeast pennsylvania this is rain showers in our state. we all got above freezing today. 51 was the high in philadelphia. so the ground is pretty mild. mixed showers starting to slip in the poconos and from there they'll go north to south.

winter weather advisory is out for monday morning that's tomorrow to tuesday morning for all of southeast pa. into jersey that includes camden county burlington county, ocean and mercer counties. kind of a slow-moving system. everything will be pretty light but we'll still have the impacts from it through tuesday. 51 as i said was the his in philadelphia but a long time since we've been in the 50's. a nice milder weekend. the normal is 42. 63 that record high set back in 1925. we did see a 60 in millville new jersey, they came in at 61 today. right now 39 in philly. most of us well above freezing. so this should all start as rain. 37 in millville. 37 in dover. jersey and delaware you'll only see rain with this. our visibilities are lowest off towards our north where we've had fog around the city. this evening 5-mile visible at the airport here. but nothing up into the poconos so along with what's falling we're also going to have some fog probably through early tomorrow morning going to be one of those annoying commutes. fog or rain or maybe some froze season precipitation mixing in. fox future cast shows north and west you guys will see these mixed showers first.

by noon they start to move into the city and then changing over to some snow mainly in the lehigh valley and the poconos where it could accumulate an inch or two. leftover snow showers as this front swings through and we do clear out by tuesday. only talking about accumulations probably in the mountains three to sick inches are possible there and a stripe of one to three for upper buck and the lehigh valley over towards berks county. for tonight 37 in the city. 32 in the burbs. cloudy with showers late. that rain in the morning changes over to a mix as temperatures fall. hit our high temperature early and that's why we can see icy conditions followed by a little bit of snow. seven day forecast, clearing out on tuesday. 41 degrees. 38 on wednesday. not bad. another front on thursday could signal some more snow showers we turn very very cold by the end of the week. 22 on friday. snuggle weather with your sweetheart on valentine's day. >> perfect. >> 29 degrees. >> get a fire going on the weekend. >> in more ways than one. >> exactly right. there you go. that will do it
